Would it changed your like if you knew you had consistent money deposited into your bank account 2 times per month? Say to the tune of $2000-$3000 per month.
With ONE product!
Seriously. Think about it!
I’m doing with affiliate marketing.
When I started my first blog in 2012 I did it for fun. I honestly didn’t think I was going to be a full-time blogger, much less support a family of 5 (7 counting my dogs).
I started blogging for fun.
Never in a million years did I think I would be closing on our custom dream home because of BLOGGING.
My parents thought I was a failure.
My in-laws barely knew what blogging was.
My wife was probably ready to tell me to “get a real job.”
Until I bought her antique rugs, her dream car, and then her DREAM HOME.
I think she’s a BLOGliever now.
How I Started Affiliate Marketing
Before ad revenue, creating and selling my digital programs, or selling coaching I started monetizing my blog through affiliate marketing.
Affiliate marketing is when users clicked on recommendations and you make money from their purchases. This is called affiliate revenue. In other words, we would get a revenue share from the sale of products I featured, talked about, or promoted.
Affiliate revenue became my first source of revenue when I started, since I didn’t have the traffic to make money from ad revenue and I didn’t have any of my on programs.
I started off promoting digital programs in the health and weight loss niche (since that was what my first blog was on).
Then when I started this blog Blogging With Funnels, I had ONE purpose. To make $6,000/month every month in 2 years.
I started promoting my favorite software, ClickFunnels.
I wrote a bunch of articles on ClickFunnels, since I was seeing success selling my own products – so I just added links to their 14-Day free trial and after a few months I was at $1,000/month recurring.
At the time of this writing, I’m averaging about $2500/month in 2020 and I’ve made as much as $5,000/month with the ClickFunnels affiliate program.
And I haven’t written an article promoting ClickFunnels in over a year!
Affiliate Marketing Makes Freedom Possible
I really couldn’t believe how fast I grew my monthly recurring affiliate revenue.
And now about 2 years later, this ONE affiliate program about pays my mortgage.
It’s an amazing feeling and thought thinking about your readers clicking and buying programs while you’re sleeping.
At first U couldn’t believe it. But the more we saw, the more affiliate income became completely irresistible to us…
Why?
Affiliate income is passive income.
Passive income = income that takes no work to generate… 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
We began to imagine a world where we could share our honest opinions in blog posts, and get paid for doing so!
That’s the ultimate freedom, right?
How To Make Money With Affiliate Marketing
You make money with affiliate marketing just like you make money with any other business.
I love affiliate marketing in particular because you don’t need a product to sell. You can sell someone else’s awesome program or product.
With Blogging With Funnels, affiliate revenue is currently my highest income source, specifically with the ClickFunnels affiliate program.
If I stopped working for a few years I would still make about $4000/month between my three blogs.
Pretty awesome huh?
I struggled with affiliate marketing my first couple of years, but now that I understand the ins and outs of what works and what doesn’t you can rest assured if you follow my tips below you’ll be successful!
4 Simple Tips To Making Money With Affiliate Marketing
I’m not going to provide you with generic tips like start a Facebook group or run Google Ads or build an email list (although this a GREAT tip). I want to show you WHY and HOW I was able to generate a great monthly income with affiliate marketing.
Tip #1: Choose The Right Program, Software, or Products
While the majority of this article has been about the money, you shouldn’t start with the money first mindset.
Start with the value add mindset.
First, keep in mind that sometimes the products will be ones that allow you to generate an affiliate income and some won’t. You never want to start with a product or commission in mind. You want to start with the problem, then find solutions for it.
This is about trust, not sales! I promise, sales will follow if you give your audience the best information possible.
What can you sell?
Almost anything.
Software, courses, advanced webinars, stuff on Amazon, electronics and almost anything else. You can check out some of my favorite recurring affiliate programs here.
So, for example if you just launched your blog after you do these 12 things, you would have gone through the process of selecting Bluehost as your webhost.
Bluehost has an amazing affiliate program.
You can write about your experience with Bluehost and then any plugins (many have affiliate programs) you upload into your WordPress blog.
Even though you’re not “an expert” you’re a few steps ahead of someone who hasn’t even launched their blog yet.
Then once you start creating landing pages or using different softwares, you can write reviews or shoot helpful videos on how to do certain things within the softwares or programs you’re using.
95% of the things you use to start and grow your online business have affiliate programs.
Which brings me to my next tip…
Tip #2: Start With What You Know
The best teachers, teach what they are passionate about and what they are an expert in.
I’ve been marketing online since 2014 and have spent thousands of hours doing and learning all sorts of thing related to online business, like:
- creating and selling digital programs
- building landing pages, sales funnels, membership sites, and more…
- blogging, vlogging, and more…(written thousands of articles and shot hundreds of videos)
- building email lists to the tune of 50,000 subscribers at one point
That makes me a real expert.
And when you’re viewed as an expert by your readers, you can effortlessly sell your own products and in the case of affiliate marketing you build trust.
Because I’m currently at where someone wants to be, I have the ability to help someone get where I am also. Make sense?
The fastest way I was able to get my knowledge in front of my audience is through SEO (search engine optimization). Many good affiliate marketers understand SEO is the most passive way to generate revenue.
The good news is that the same great content you use to build trust with your audience should boost your Google search rankings.
The same goes for shooting Youtube videos, being on TikTok, posting on Instagram, and/or Pinterest.
Tip #3: Think Long-Term
Like with any business, play the long game.
Sure, it’s nice to make high-ticket affiliate sales by forcing your offers down the throats of your readers, but you’ll make more money and maintain more integrity focusing on long-term assets.
For me this comes in the form of valuable content.
Valuable, high-quality content lasts forever on the blogosphere.
As an example, one blog post on my health blog is about 4 years old and it still makes money. This one blog post alone has been responsible for over $100,000 in income over the last 4 years.
I haven’t touched that blog post since I published it.
THAT’S long term!
I have a very specific process for writing posts that go viral and you can grab that process by signing up for my 7-Day ecourse here.
Tip #4: Write What People Want To Learn
One of the most lessons I learned that really helped catapult my online income was realizing I needed to write about what people WANTED.
Sure, I enjoyed writing about whatever I was passionate about, but if no one read it, what good was it doing?
When I started my first blog I was generic posts like “10 Tips To Lose Weight” or “6 Reasons To Stop Cardio.”
Sure, people would be interested in reading those posts, BUT it isn’t very exciting.
I started studying copywriting and I started asking questions to my clients. Many were curious about SPECIFIC diets and health issues.
So, I switched my writings to “How To Lose 10 Pounds With A Keto Diet” and “Stop Doing Cardio To Reverse Hypothyroidism.”
This was a valuable lesson in not only writing about things I was an expert in, but writing things my readers WANTED to know and learn about.
My Blogging With Funnels readers want to learn about affiliate marketing and how to make money blogging with sales funnels. So that’s what I focus on.
Why Choose The ClickFunnels Affiliate Program?
I believe you can achieve success in any affiliate marketing path you choose.
I’m biased to ClickFunnels, because for me it was a no-brainer because:
- I was already using it as a sale funnel software making 6 figures a year selling my own digital programs
- The community is amazing, supportive, and helpful.
- The affiliate program has high-ticket offers where you could make $997/ sale and low-ticket offers where you could make $1/sale and everything in between.
- Most importantly the affiliate program had a recurring monthly payment.
One of my early Clickfunnels referrals has paid me (through ClickFunnels) $118.80 for almost 24 months. That’s almost $3000 from ONE person.

When you sign up for ClickFunnels using my link here, you can receive all of the bonuses listed in that article above.
As I’ve mentioned before there are MANY affiliate programs you can be successful with (here’s a list of over 100), but I do recommend looking into ClickFunnels, even if you don’t use it for affiliate marketing it’s a GREAT software to grow your online business.
Affiliate Marketing: Get Rick Quick Or Slow?
No matter what affiliate marketing revenue source you choose, it takes time and commitment.
That’s the first thing you need to understand.
There is no “easy money” or get rick quick programs out there. If they promise you that, then RUN away fast.
If it was easy to do, everyone would try to make passive income on the internet.
It’s going to take time — months, maybe even years. But if building an audience on the internet and making passive income is a goal of yours, I promise, it’s worth the effort.
Plus, if you’re writing about what you’re passionate about, it won’t even feel like work!
