“You’re better off getting a 9 to 5 job.”
“I don’t think you can support our family by blogging.”
“Blogging isn’t a real business.”
She was right…until she wasn’t.
The truth is, some blogs make money.
Some blogs get LOTS of traffic.
I’ve learned from being a member of about 10 “blogging” Facebook groups that most (I’d guesstimate 99%) bloggers struggle to make money from their blogging efforts.
And I think I know why…
The formula for blogging success is simple
Most things are simple, like blogging, however most of us complicate things before we even get started.
I’ve been guilty of this in my 11 years as a self-employed sometimes hustler and complicator of things.
What is the blogging success formula?
Know your audience, then write EPIC content that your audience WANTS and NEEDS, have something of massive VALUE to offer your audience, then PROMOTE that content to your audience.
That formula can and will make ANY blog, in any niche, in any market successful.
My wife was seriously about to leave my blogging butt
She was.
Ok, not really…but I would have left myself!
Until about 8 months ago when I made her (and myself) a BLOGliever.
Blogliever: a believer that blogging is a REAL business.
ClickFunnels, a software I use to run my business has a saying “You’re one funnel away.”
In other words, you’re one sales funnel away from making a million dollars. They even have a group called “Two Comma Club.” It’s pretty awesome and one of my goals.
Anyway, after one of my blog posts went viral in October of 2016 and I made $1000 in ONE day and showed my wife a picture of my earnings for that day (pictured below), her mouth dropped:
I know, I also made $3,000 in one day later that month, BUT my first $1,000 day was SUPER special.
At that time I was DEAD broke, as you can see in the early part of October. I almost started driving for Uber after my 2 little girls went to sleep just to pay the bills.
THEN a few months after that in August of 2017, while on a month long vacation in Lake Tahoe, I made $2,172 in ONE day and bought her the antique rug pictured below the earnings proof for our anniversary:
And now the famous rug:
Still not sure how that rug would cost $1,500, BUT she’s happy, so I’m happy!
I won’t forget the first week of August 2017, because I made over $10,000 that WEEK. It slowed a bit and ended up making about $18,000 that month, but it affirmed that blogging for profits is doable, achievable, and somewhat SIMPLE.
Not easy, I said simple.
I followed the formula, then followed it again. And this month when I launch another product, you think I’m going to follow the formula?
You bet I am!
You’re just ONE blog post away from changing your life and motivating you to continue working towards your goal: FREEDOM.
That’s what most of us want.
Freedom from having a boss or having to be somewhere if you want to do something else.
Free to take vacations
Bloggers who get it vs. bloggers who don’t…choose not to
I used to resist.
I resisted blogging the right way.
I always thought I needed:
- more content
- a better blog title or heading
- a different logo and better images
When what I really needed was:
- an automated sales funnel
- a great product
- less content (but better)
- consistency
Once, I got it. I changed my strategy and my income went up!
If you’re still taking actions that aren’t producing the results you want, you’re resisting and driving yourself crazy.
Make the choice to “get it.”
How well do you know your audience?
This is many blogger’s #1 problem.
My site is about how to make money blogging WITHOUT using ads.
Because of this, one of most popular articles is: Why Bloggers Are Ditching Their Websites For Sales Funnels
Why are people reading that post?
Because it provides bloggers (you?) a unique opportunity that other (most?) bloggers aren’t using or even aware of: SALES FUNNELS.

Understanding your audience should be at the top of your list of to-dos. Not your logo, WordPress theme, layout, blog name, hosting solution, or pretty much anything else you can think of.
At the end of the day, NONE of those details you think are important matter.
What matters is: Can you get your audience the results they are after?
If you can do that, you’ll become a successful blogger.
No fancy wordpress plugins, no switching from theme to theme, or changing your logo 20 times.
Just writing and sharing awesome content your audience wants and NEEDS.
If you’re know you’re audience and you still aren’t moving in the right direction, either:
1.) You’re content needs work
2.) You’re not promoting your content enough in the right places to the right people…your audience
If you’re content sucks, work at getting better. Simple as that. Write LONG, well-researched posts, instead of short blurbs. Write posts that give a SPECIFIC result.

Blogging is 10% writing blogs and 90% promoting it
This is going to be a game-changer for getting traffic to your blog, growing your list, and making more money from your blogging efforts.
If you’re anything like me, you LOVE writing articles, shooting videos, and creating content.
I would constantly start little 30 day challenges with myself to write 30 articles in 30 days or 60 Youtube videos in 30 days.
Sure, it helped me create tons of content, some of it was good, a few were great, and others flopped.
Unfortunately, I realized no one was seeing my content.
I realized I was creating, but not promoting.
If no one sees your creations, did you really create anything of value?
I switched from a content creating machine to a content promoting machine.
Here’s what happened:
- My blog traffic increased
- My email subscriber list skyrocketed everyday
- My sales went up
- My wife was happier <— The most important one
People were seeing my content, they were engaging with it, they were opting in to my freebies, and more importantly, they were BUYING from me.
I decided I was still going to create content, however I was going to focus more on promoting my content.
Here’s what I did:
- I decided to make my posts closer to 2,000 words
- I wanted to have a video for each blog post (eventually)
- I wanted to have clear CTAs (Call To Actions) to get a lead or to make a sale
- I chose to create EPIC content, instead of alot of mediocre content
- Make my wife happy <—- This is a post about my wife almost leaving me after all!
How To Stop Wasting Time and Worrying Your Loved Ones
I’m stubborn.
I would tell myself:
- I’m smarter than THAT blogger making $10,000/month
- My content is WAY better than that other blog getting 100K visits per month
- If I just create MORE content, people will come
- If I just changed my logo, theme, layout, images, hosting company, etc…
No…
- I didn’t need another logo or theme
- It wasn’t about being smarter or better at blogging
- I didn’t need to create more content.
I just needed to follow the FORMULA!
The blogging success formula is marketing and selling 101.
Now, maybe you don’t want to make money blogging.
If you’re one of those bloggers, then this post or most of my posts won’t be for you, because I like to make money and I want to help other bloggers make money.
What Do Money Making Blogs Know That You Don’t?
Building a successful money making blog doesn’t happen overnight.
Bloggers who are successful, treat their blogs as the business that it is.
The bad news is, blogging takes TIME and WORK.
The good news is, there is more than one way to build a successful blog.
I prefer to use sales funnels (like these) and writing epic content that helps people get results.
Here are the 3 steps I would follow:
Step 1: Download my Perfect Blog Blueprint
Step 2: Sign-up for ClickFunnels 14-Day Trial
Step 3: Start taking action!
That’s all you need to run a successful, money-making blog.

Interesting post. Lots of great between the lines information here. You’re dead on with saying you can have all the content you want, but if no one sees your great content it doesn’t matter.
