Search engine optimization, also known as SEO, is the process of improving the visibility of content on the search engines, like Google, Yahoo and Bing.

SEO also allows you to reach targeted traffic that is highly interested in your niche or market by optimizing your content based on certain
key words. SEO is a common theme that you are going to learn throughout this program, especially when it comes to blogging
because it is such an important factor. You are going to want to utilize and rank your content in the search engines to attract more
people to your content.

Backlinks are links that are added to a blog post that link back to another blog or website.

This is often done when you reference another blog or credit them for information used (i.e. I often reference and link .gov websites as a trusted authority in health and nutrition.

The more times your blog is referenced and linked on other blogs, especially highly-trusted and trafficked sites,
the higher your domain authority will be.

It is much harder for new bloggers to get backlinks, because their blogs are not highly visible or established yet.

There are a few different ways to get backlinks to your blog:

Outreach – reaching out to other bloggers and asking them to use a link to your blog article in one of their articles
Guest Posting – when you write a post to publish on someone else’s blog that contains a link back to your website.
Create infographics – and ask bloggers to post them on their website with a link back to your blog
Creating social profiles with a link to your blog/website

We’ll be using the last method for getting backlinks to your blog. They are in no particular order, so you can just go through and create profiles or hire someone on Fiverr to do it for you.
